Aug 6, 2012 - Serial SRAM family now includes 512Kb and 1Mb devices!
The new serial SRAM products (23LC512 and 23LCV1024) are the largest and fastest in the industry and the first to offer 5V operation.  At the same time we've introduced battery-backed serial SRAM devices at significantly lower costs than any other non-volatile SRAM, FRAM or Parallel SRAM.  They are available in 8-bit packages at the low starting price of $1.16 in 10K unit quantities.  Higher speeds of up to 80 Mbps can be achieved via the quad-SPI or SQI™, protocol, providing zero write-cycle times with near instantaneous data movement for offloading graphics, data buffering, data logging, displays, math, audio, video and other data-intensive functions.  There will be a PICtail™ daughter board available early next year to support the new serial SRAM products.  (Product Presentation)

July 31, 2012 - Development Support for MCP795XX SPI RTCC Products
The MCP795XX SPI RTCC PICtail™ Plus Daughter Board (part # AC164147, $45) is now available. This board works with Microchip’s Explorer 16 Development Board (part # DM240001, $129.99) and PIC18 Explorer Board (part # DM183032, $99.99) to enable designers to demonstrate the MCP795XX and WXX RTCC devices in their applications.  This new tool is expected to be available in August 2012.

July 31, 2012 - New Family of Mid-Range, SPI Real-Time Clock/Calendars (RTCC) in Smaller 10-pin Packages
The new RTCCs offer many of the same features as the larger 14-pin MCP795WXX family, including superior timekeeping performance.  They also reduce overall component count in the system and eliminate user programming costs for a serial ID making the MCP795XX RTCC family an ideal choice for the handheld, wireless and consumer markets. The inclusion of 64 bytes of SRAM, 2 Kbits of EEPROM and a 128-bit Unique ID (which can be ordered blank or pre-programmed with a MAC address) may eliminate the need for additional external memory devices thus lowering costs and reducing board space.  Utility power meters, manufacturing equipment, radios, GPS and hospital instrumentation applications that need accurate time over a broad temperature range will also benefit from the very wide digital trimming range, which can compensate up to 22 seconds per day for crystal frequency drift. July 24, 2012 - CLC Configuration Tool GUI has been updated!
A new version (v1-0-0-4) of the CLC Configuration Tool GUI has been posted to the 10F32x and 12/16F150x product pages. There was a bug in the previous version regarding an unhandled exception error when loading C code that has the "=" sign anywhere in the comments. This has been fixed in the new version.  Click here to download the tool now.

July 2, 2012 - RE46C31X Piezoelectric Horn Drivers
The RE46C317 and RE46C318 are low voltage and low standby current piezoelectric horn drivers intended for battery operated or battery backed up applications such as smoke detector and CO detectors. They are pin compatible with the RE46C117 but draw less standby current. They operate from a supply voltage of 2V to 5V with low standby currents of 1uA (RE46C317) and 0.1uA (RE46C318). An integrated boost regulator provides the necessary drive voltage for the horn to achieve the desired sound pressure.  The RE46C317 requires tri-state logic input, wile the RE46C18 requires standard logic input.  (Product presentation)

July 2, 2012 - MCP6H91/2/4 - 12V, 10 MHz General-Purpose Op Amp
The MCP6H91/2/4 family of op amps has a wide supply voltage range of 3.5V to 12V and rail-to-rail output operation. The family is unity gain stable with a gain bandwidth product of 10 MHz (typical).  They operate with a single-supply voltage as high as 12V, while drawing only 2 mA/amplifier (typical) of quiescent current. The family is offered in single (MCP6H91), dual (MCP6H92) and quad (MCP6H94) configurations. All devices are fully specified in extended temperature range from -40°C to +125°C and available in 8L-SOIC, 8L- 2x3 TDFN for Singles and Duals, and 14L- SOIC and 14L TSSOP for the Quad.
